The End of #JodiArias is Near
by Jeffrey Evan Gold of The Gold Patrol

Picturevictim Travis Alexander
On a plane back to Phoenix for what promises to be the end of #JodiArias as we know  it (err... her). Closings are tomorrow morning, and then jury gets the case.

It's the second shot by state at the death penalty. Remember, she has already been convicted. And there is no third shot at death. A hung jury means Life. While the statute says that there is a possibility of a life with parole sentence, parole has been abolished in AZ. There is only a clemency board now. Further, it very unlikely the judge would give any chance of parole in a case like this one where the first jury hung on death. I think Judge Stephens has given Jodi every break short of dismissal, but that I think would be a bridge too far even for her.

Although I know many of my viewers and readers would like the death penalty here. It's not very likely either. Traditionally death is reserved for multiple victims, special victims like kids or cops, extremely brutal killers, ie that torture you first and chop you up after, or defendants with long records. Boyfriend girlfriend killings not usually on death rolls, but still it could happen in a state that doles it out often.

However, consider if Jodi gets death, then the chances of some reversal due to error increases as there are many more appeals and free ones at that. So, in the end, the right thing is probably going to happen, life with no parole, and she will suffer in prison for the rest of her life. Justice for Travis Alexander is not going to be torture his family for years to come, but to put his precious soul to rest finally knowing that his murderer will never enjoy one day of freedom ever.

But in this case anything can happen...and usually does. So stay tuned.

I also doubt if JA will get the death penalty. Really hopeing she will never leave prison. That will at least give the TA family some relief. They have gone through enough.

I, too, don't think Arias will receive death. Having been through courts and the prison system with an ex husband that was abusive and violent nearly killing me, he still does time and will never get out. Arias will more than likely receive life without the possibility of parole, EVER!

I hope you all are wrong, and the jury surprises all of us and gives her what she deserves.

Thanks for all the info. I doubt most TA supporters were aware of these point, I certainly wasn't. I think it will be LWOP anyway just too difficult to convince 12 especially when it's a female.
Side note : you didn't catch you typed 'reverse' instead of 'reserved' relative to who end up with DP verdict. May want to correct that Jeff. Otherwise great post and thank you

Jeff. I also believe it will be life without parol. But I also believe with this jury there is a good chance they will vote DP. At least the chances are greater IMO. And thanks to you, Jenn and Cathy for all the hard work keeping us updated. You are a great team.

If ever there would Be a chance for the DP, it would Be this jury. I didn't like you Jeff saying the DP is only for this one or that! Travis was ONLY 30! He pretty much never had a real childhood so was just getting started in Life! I don't have one doubt had Travis lived he'd of used his life for Good, helping others along the way... More than some police officers. Cop killing is bad!!!! But, to put their lives as more deserving of the DP is wrong! A life is a life and the horrific premeditated efforts in this case screams of EVIL &jodiaris is lethal, in or out of Jail. She will find her ways I kid you not to make the family to ongoing suffer! She'll have more rights in prison than jail! Marries a DeVault already in 6 months in in GP working! They get 2 electrical things in cell, more visits, more phone, better food. I had a friend in JAIL on a DUI-it was horrible here in WI! NO VISITORS. Phone calls were 10$ for 10 minutes! Horrible food that made her very ill! Over flow in cells where a girl had to sleep on the floor. This was her first & only crime and time in jail. She weighs 85 pounds was home had 2 glasses of wine, fled from her abuser ( found with welts on her body) but she had his car that had pot in it. They through the book at her. Being she's so tiny 2 glasses of wine made her over the limit, her pot or not it was in the car . I've known her all my life and she is Bot a big drinker nor a drug user at all!! Yes, her abuser was arrested but he bonded out, while she sat 6 weeks in jail! All repeat affenses so they didn't get $ from family for commentary. I put $ in my BFF fund for phone and better food, costing me 600$ for 6 weeks! I was so upset I call the Warden and gave them a huge peace of my mind! They claimed she had not ordered commentary when the money had been removed from my account!! Thus they come only 1 time a week so it meant her going without and waiting another week! They told my friend she didn't place order! Well believe me I let them have it! They agreeded She didn't belong there and moved her to a lower level of security where she could get out side, they also found they was in error and my friend did order and yes pay!! So, they gave her some food! It's because her health is bad she was bone thin and I was beyond upset I paid for some tuna, and soup so she could eat! No break was given! She should not of gotten in a car that wasn't hers, being tiny she actually is not a big drinker. No mercy was shown to a women truly fleeing her abuser,,, yes she had proof all over her body! The point is some people can't get away with shit, while others have are masters at getting ppl to do their biding, believe their lies! No way would my friend of been able to tweet! Also she's a book reader, but I could leave books for her they had to come from a store in a box like Amazin, so I paid for books for her 15! She stayed in her cell and read, never wanting to go out and socialise. She was told not to. That the repeaters get used to jail , find friends and adapt well-they didn't want that to happen. Thank God she hated every single day. It was the worst thing she could imagine. She left her books behind for the girls. Her cell mate an older women helped her a lot and girls would come into her cell to visit, but she never left! The good part-it caused her to report file charges on her abuser, she's was forced into alcohol classes but THEY saw what she needed and put her in DV support group. She used this to learn and glady is doing well free from being abused! My point is jail here in Beloit WI is a nightmare compared to what I've read a Perryveille! Jodi is like the girls my friend bunked in! They'd sing, dance, play cards, laugh all day. She could not understand how they could be so happy! It's because like Jodi they adapt, make friends, and the freedoms they get they make their own little life bubble! Yet, prison allows for so much more of the above. Unless Jodi is on death row she will do well and I have not one doubt she will be out in not 25 years but 18! Ppl tend to think that but she has served 7 years abs she gets credit for IT! So 18 years and yes, Jodi has gotten so many things in the system! Had Beth Karas said ppl in jail live Jodi and JSS had shown over 7 years she is in the defense side and is spineless! Jodi has JSS rapped around her big toe! Don't say never when it comes to JA-she'll have her manipulating TATICS down in 18 years and sure will fool those old farts that decide to set her free! Travis was equal to a child, a police officer or any one! A life is a life! Don't diminish him! How would you feel if it was your brother! As far as Juan's closing wow!!!!!! Juan did a passionate profound closing last time, how did that work NOT! Nurmi brainwashed some by his constant pounding on certian issues and that's wht they didn't give death! This time he went for what the jury can actually look at, see, touch, attacking all the excuses that one might use to save her life. For me

I too think it will be LWOP bc of more women on jury. I will be fine with that only if she could have no contact to outside for conveying msg. I think as long as she has breath she will torment those he loved. Pray for the family. I love them❤

I believe this jury will impose DEATH....she deserves it and no appeals court will overturn their decision.let Travis and his family find peace already.

As of today, Saturday Feb. 30, all pundits and reporters that I've read or heard have changed their expectations from LWOP to the DP due in part to the lack of mitigating factors. (I think some of the 'mitigating factors' like being 27 or having no apparent criminal history may have unintended consequences because when examined, they're as devoid of substance as the fact that Jodi breathes or bathes regularly. It appears the defense was desperately grasping at straws.)

She deserves the death penalty for the torture and brutal way she killed Travis. It was indeed premeditated, she is indeed a 3 hole wonder and has lied about how or why Travis is dead 3 times. She should be locked up forever! If this judge decides to give Life (25 yrs with time served would be 18) I will once again believe that there has been no justice in this trial. Justice will be nothing less than Life Without Parole or DP. Jodi was a stalker, a liar, a thief, a bully, an abuser, and a narcissistic, obsessive, jealous, evil person. I follow this entire trial (guilt and penalty phase) and I don't think this judge has it in her to give Jodi LWOP. I do, however, pray nightly that she will if this decision is in her hands.

All I can say in response to the above comment -- "Traditionally death is reserved for multiple victims, special victims like kids or cops..." -- Travis WAS a special victim. Special to his family, friends, church, coworkers...he was a VERY special victim.
