 #JODIARIAS -THE END
by: Jennifer McKelvey of The Gold Patrol

Picture
We watched as Jodi Arias was sentenced to life in prison without the chance of release. For years we  followed her case. It was ugly. The victim was re-victimized time and time again. Jodi was plain ruthless. She lied, she schemed, and, in the end, she avoided the death penalty. She took one last chance to torment the Alexander family at her sentencing when she spoke. Among other insulting statements, the fog magically lifted and she recalled details of the murder she couldn't remember for all these years. Better left unsaid? Yes. True Jodi fashion? Absolutely.

But, she is now gone from the center ring. She is a statistic now, just a number, and literally too, prisoner number 28119. We may hear the occasional story about her, shenanigans she's been up to, or the reminder that this trial that went on way too long, which caused so much additional trauma and pain to the gracious Alexander family and his friends, several of whom, I have had the honor of meeting through The Gold Patrol.

Speaking of meeting, how many of us have formed meaningful friendships in the wake of this tragedy? Pretty much all of us. I think we bonded as we grieved for a stranger whose life was taken way too soon. I like to think this is what Travis Victor Alexander would like. He was about connections, bonds. From his friends and family, it's pretty clear that Travis was that special guy who would be capable of bringing people together, even in his death.

The State’s team, Prosecutor Juan Martinez and Detective Esteban Flores, poured their hearts into seeking justice for Travis. Detective Flores and his wife Corrine lost their son tragically recently, only to have Detective Flores back in that courtroom shortly after to ensure that his commitment to justice was seen through to the end.

While most supporters never knew Travis, it's amazing how we all feel he's our friend, our brother. I encourage all of you to go forward from this point and not reflect on Jodi one more minute, but only on the man who made a lot of strangers turn into a family. To continue his legacy, even if in small ways. I hope that in the coming months and years, the Alexander family finds some joy in knowing that their brother, while gone from this earth, has made such a big impact on so many people. Their pain is never going to go away. Nobody will replace Travis, as nobody could. But, I hope that time and the absence of a criminal trial gives them the time and space to begin to pick up the pieces. They're a close family who clearly loves one another. I know they will find their way together.

You can finally rest in peace, Travis.

I began to think of Travis in the way that he could have been my son especially when I realized that his parents had passed. I didn't know anything about this case until I watched Nancy Grace one evening. The Casey Anthony case ended and I was not in a mood to take on another case. At first, I tried to avoid this case, but then I watched the 48 hours fiasco and I thought, okay, I will pay attention but just a tiny bit. That didn't work at all. The more I heard about the evidence, the more miffed I got. I began to believe that this person Jodi was strange but I had a bad feeling which got worse as the defense team laid out their story. Anyway, I am glad it is over. I actually received an email from Samatha after I donated to their cause and I was so happy to express my support for their loss and I felt truly honored she replied back to me. Steven favorited one of my Tweets as did Chris Hughes and I felt honored by that too. I wish I could still help in some way but I guess my job is over. LOL. It was very hard to hear their crys and feel their anguish and I sent many bear hugs to all of Travis' family, friends and other supporters. I hope they find happiness and solace knowing that so many strangers will always love and care about them. Sorry I rambled on...

Job well done Jenn!
To me Travis because a household name,,I/we have preyed for him and his family through the trial and and many, many times after,, I truly believe our Lord has our plan from birth,, TRAVIS WAS PUT HERE TO CHANGE IT, and he did, this is an amazing family, they came from homeless to triumph to making Travis SHINE, from here on out, when I thinking of this trial, I'll alway think about, Travis came out on top, He got justice by himself, he pulled though and somehow gave the evidence himself, through the mess, and telling this friends about his life around horrible ppl,,
To Travis is a Hero, in every aspect of the word, I can honestly say, I love Travis Alexander, God Bless him, and always have the ALEZANDERs family's back,
Best of luck to the Family, they'll move on, they're stronger then I've ever seen!

So very beautifully written and all do very true. We who do not know each other have come together as family just like Travis would have wanted us to do. We will never forget him. Although I live in Canada he brought us from all over the world to grieve his death and wait time after time for the murderer to be punished for this crime. Now we remember the man we will never forget Travis Alexander. Bless his family that they may go forward together as one to be strong in faith and love for each other.
